Experts discussed attracting foreign investment through residence permit programmes

At the panel session "Residence by investment: challenges and opportunities", leading experts shared their views on attracting foreign investment through residence permit programmes. - Over the past few years, Uzbekistan has emerged on the global stage for investors as a destination country," said Akram Mukhamatkulov, Head of the Henley&Partners office. - Uzbekistan may be of interest to high-income people in the region because of its attractive property market, openness to cooperation and prospects. Today, there are more than 85 programmes worldwide for obtaining residence permits through investment. The most popular are programmes in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Malta and the USA. The participants discussed common features of successful programmes and opportunities for replicating best practices in Uzbekistan. The main investment instruments attracting private investors were also discussed. - Uzbekistan is a country that is growing very fast. There are many young people here who are ready to learn, which is important for every country. This is a great advantage," said Michal Pehr, CEO of Honestus Family Office AG. The session raised questions about how the state can stimulate and use these investments for the development of the real estate and urban development sector.
