Uzbekistan aims to become a regional IT centre by 2030

The pitch session "IT-PARK Uzbekistan: New perspectives of development" presented plans to turn Uzbekistan into a regional IT centre by 2030. The session was moderated by Ruzmetova Kamolakhon, Head of Department at IT Park. Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, shared the importance of recent investments: "Yesterday we witnessed a significant event — the start of construction of a green data center worth $5 billion from Data Vault, which is a major foreign direct investment project. We are creating favorable conditions for IT companies and launching a “Zero Risk” program to cover all risks associated with opening and managing offices in Uzbekistan." Farkhod Ibragimov, Director of IT-Park Uzbekistan, noted the scale of the project: "At the moment, almost 2,000 companies are registered in the IT-Park. Registration does not require companies to be present in the park, and most of them are export-oriented. The Enterprise Uzbekistan project - aimed at providing foreign companies with the same rules and regulations they are used to in their home countries - is scheduled to be launched by the end of the year. The project will focus on areas such as data privacy, intellectual property, banking, currency regulation, taxation and labor relations." Gulnoza Sultanova, Head of department at IT-Park, emphasized legal support: "To start a business in Uzbekistan, it is necessary to choose the legal form, prepare documents and calculate the initial costs, including rent and salaries." The session outlined goals to increase exports of IT services and software products to USD 5 billion by 2030. This discussion provided a unique platform to learn about investment projects and opportunities in Uzbekistan's IT sector, highlighting the country's significant progress in IT infrastructure development.
