Uzbekistan’s Digital Commerce Landscape: From Local Growth to Global Integration
Global e-commerce is expanding rapidly, surpassing $6.42 trillion, with Uzbekistan emerging as one of the most dynamic markets in Central Asia. In 2024, the domestic online retail sector reached $1.2 billion, and it is projected to grow to $2.2 billion by 2027. This growth is primarily driven by 32.7 million internet users, alongside advancements in digital logistics and fintech.
The Wildberries marketplace, which has operated in the country since 2022, serves as a prime example of integration into the global ecosystem. Over the past two years, sales by Uzbek entrepreneurs on the platform exceeded $1 billion, while product exports grew by 63%. Furthermore, the company is investing $150 million in the construction of a major logistics center in the Tashkent region.
Against this backdrop, Wildberries' participation as a sponsor of the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum (TIIF) underscores the strong interest of leading digital platforms in Uzbekistan's economic potential. This partnership highlights a shared commitment to developing digital infrastructure, attracting investment, and supporting small businesses across the republic.
